Our story

Then: Known for the last 53 years as E.W. Lee, Lee was created when founder Edward Lee brought together his artistic and literary skills to fill a gap in the market. The mid 1960s was a period of great change, new businesses  and cultural experiences were emerging, and people needed a way to express themselves and  their services to their communities. 

Back then, bringing visuals and text to life required real artistry. There were no stock photos, limited fonts and mainstream desktop publishing was still decades away. Edward’s unique skill set of drawing, painting, lettering and layout design made him highly sought after, and soon the city was awash with his work on signage, books, magazines and other publications. 

Now: Today, Katrina and the next generation of print crafters are proud to still be a voice for our community, for the businesses, the not-for-profits, artists, authors and designers, the change makers and the storytellers. 

We have a long history, but that doesn’t mean we live in the past. We combine our craft mentality with the latest technologies and thoughtful design to create stunning impact on the page while reducing the footprint on our environment. 

We believe that one of the reasons we have thrived over the years is our recognition of the changing face of our industry, adapting to the shift to smaller runs and tighter deadlines and more unique and tailored solutions to cut through for our clients. As for the digital age? We strongly believe the benefits of print working in tandem with digital marketing.

Sustainability

At Lee we continuously look to protect the environment, reduce pollution and improve our practices. 

Our paper stocks are FSC accredited. The Forest Stewardship Council supports conservation and responsible forest management for paper from origin to print.

Our printer toners and consumables are returned to the manufacturer for refurbishing and reuse.

We recycle 100% of our aluminium plates, over 95% of all cardboard, glass, ink tins, paper containers, drink bottles and timber pallets.

All cardboard packaging is 100% repurposed or recycled. Sometimes your order may be delivered in a box that looks like it’s a veteran of the delivery route. We believe the best way to save the planet is to repurpose and reuse where we can. We encourage you to do the same. 

We recycle all recyclable plastics and Redcycle soft plastics. 

We also got rid of our commercial consumer waste bin service years ago and haven’t looked back.
